So... It looks like I never got around to another post in April. Truth be told, once April 15th rolls around I am ready to be done. But after four short months of hardly thinking about taxes, I am ready to go again.
Typically, I don't get too personal in my posts, but today I felt as if change is needed. I work a regular 8-5 job (sorta) and, as my clients know, I usually prepare taxes before or after work and on the weekends. This type of schedule keeps me very busy from January thru April of every year.
My goal is to have a full time tax business. The kind where I don't work a regular job all year, the kind where only I am in charge and only I am accountable to my clients. This has been my dream for a few years now. But I am a procrastinator and never seem to get around to building the client base I need to quit my job.
My clients are wonderful and a lot of them send a referral or two every tax season. As a result I have seen my practice double each of the last 3 years. But I know I can't rely solely on word of mouth. I need to get myself out there. So this year I plan to advertise, not sure where or in what medium, but my goal is to have a plan to put in motion before January.
With all that being said, I can't wait for tax season to begin again. I truly love preparing taxes and helping my clients in any way that I can.
